What is Hysteroscopy?
Hysteroscopy is a technique through which the surgeon can view the uterine cavity without the need of a cut. The technique is used for checking the opening of fallopian tubes or removal of polyps that might be preventing pregnancy. Procedure of hysteroscopy
This procedure is performed a week after your periods as it helps the doctor get a better view of your uterus
Patient will be given sedatives before the start of the treatment
The then patient is administered with anesthesia
The cervix is dilated using a speculum
With the help of a hysteroscope, thin tube with a light on it is inserted in the vagina
The doctor then examines the uterus and fallopian tube
On diagnosis, surgery is performed if required
You may experience slight cramping and not any kind of serious pain when the procedure is carried out. The whole process takes around 10-40 minutes depending on the diagnosis. However, after the procedure, you may experience pain in shoulder, dizziness, fever and cramping. Depending on the anesthesia used, you will be allowed to leave the hospital within 2-3 hrs.
